PROJECTS: South Korean JV inaugurates Daehan wind power plant in Jordan

Daehan Wind Power Company (DHWP), a South Korean joint venture between DL Energy Co. and Korea Southern Power Co, formally announced on Wednesday the completion of its Daehan Wind Power Plant project in Tafilah, Jordan.

The 51.75-megawatt project, developed at an investment of $100 million, had started commercial operations on 31 July, DHWP said in a press statement.

The company has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to sell the electricity, the statement said.

Vestas supplied the wind turbines [3.45MW X 15 units] and the Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the project.

The plant will meet the annual electricity needs of around 40,000 households and offset more than 112,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, the statement said.
